Don’t Advertise Your Book with These Companies

They’ve told you how brilliant your book is, they have all these followers,  and there’s a tight deadline to get into the deal. All great sales talk to tempt you. And maybe $39 is a great price.

I’ll tell you right now, don’t do it. That will be $39 down the drain. You’ll see these emails at least once a month from a different company name. If you’re still tempted to put down that money, let me share with you what to look for.

First, check out their website. More than likely their website is only directed at authors. Hey, advertise with us, we have millions of followers. How did they get all those followers if they’re directing their website to only authors?

If their website does look legitimate, take a look at their Facebook or Twitter page. I’m willing to bet that they’ve got a million followers and post after post of book covers and links, but that no one is sharing or liking or commenting on their posts. That’s because those are more than likely fake accounts that they purchased to make it look like they have a following.

I know it’s frustrating. But please don’t throw your money away.

What can you do to get sales on a book that’s published? Of course you need a good book and a good cover. Beyond that you have to have reviews.

I published my first book without ARC readers I only had 20 reviews after the first year and Amazon ads weren’t working because potential readers were only seeing there were 20 reviews. So, I put my book for free and advertised in reputable newsletters – businesses that actually do connect with readers.

On Thursday, I’m going to share a list of reputable newsletters that have real readers who would love to get your book. I’ll also share how much each cost and the number of downloads I had for each program. I tried out 7 different programs I feel they each had their pros and cons.

So look out for the shysters and I’ll see you on Thursday.
