Now I consider Mark Dawson the rebel leader of self-publishing. He’s not only the CEO of the Self-publishing formula, he also has couple of great series books, my favorite is the John Milton series. And he had this to share with me about self-publishing.
“For those with a commercial bent, and not afraid to work hard, independent publishing might not just be an alternative but the most sensible way of getting words to readers. With much higher potential earnings and total control over everything, more and more authors are eschewing the old fashioned model and striking out alone – and are all the better for it.” – Mark Dawson of the self-publishing formula
Legitimate self published authors include myself, Mark Dawson, James Blatch, Andy Weir, Jerri Williams, Amy Rivers, Brandon Sanderson, and the list goes on.
What makes us legitimate?
We work hard at our craft, we want readers to enjoy what we’re creating, and we look at this as a business. Each of us, I’m sure, has our own definition of success. My definition of success is hearing from a reader that they enjoyed my book and that it entertained them.
So, if you like having control over the decisions and outcomes of your books, then you’re in the right place.
If you’re curious about the self-publishing process, I’ll be distilling down to a 5 minute podcast in a future episode.
