Members submit your first chapters

As I receive submissions, I’ll share them with all members. We’ll review next week at meeting. Can’t make the meeting but want to give feedback? You’ll be able to leave notes. It doesn’t have to be a thriller, but also, we’re all used to murder and mayhem, so share whatever.

We are all here to help each other so here are the rules: 

The submitting author: Is a sponge – taking notes, nodding. The submitting author shouldn’t say “I wrote it that way because…” – why? Because if the readers didn’t get that, explaining it isn’t going to help future readers. You are welcome though to ask things or get conversations going like “Any suggestions on how I could make this part work?” “What did you think of the first page?” etc.

The reviewers: Share something you liked or that worked well. AND you must share at least 3 things that didn’t make sense to you, seemed out of character, confused you, didn’t seem to work, etc.

Review Schedule: 

• Submit your first 5,000 words of your novel by the first week of the month to me. (August 5, September 2, etc.)
• I’ll send them out to everyone (up to 2 per month – if I get more they will have to wait for the next month). 
• On the second week of the month, we’ll review during our meeting (or you can give notes) (August 12, September 9, etc.)
